Water scarcity greatly impacts the lives of people in Madagascar. It’s not just a resource; it plays a central role in theirlives. Children grow up understanding its necessity, traveling long distances to fetch water, but also finding joy and crea- tivity in it, turning the ocean into a playground. Fishermen depend on water for food and livelihoods, and even transport with their boats the laboriously pumped drinking water to their villages across the sea. The scarcity is met with immense appreciation as water is used sparingly.
Water shortage is a growing global problem. Often portrayed in the same way, I aimed to shift the narrative with my series Ebb and Flow, emphasizing gratitude for water and highlighting people’s positive resilience in overcoming challenges.
